No one is leaving, that's a pipe dream that everyone hopes happen. The 05s, 06s, and 02/03s are the best in the state. The Coaching is why they stay. No doubt the out years are in question, beyond 08. But that could change next year. You guys have been killing off Del Sol for years.

Besides, who wants to move to rosters that are already full? And, if they move, how does that work? Do they all decide on which teams they want to move to, making sure they disperse or do they target one team and bump an entire team? Movement will be minimal, if any. But yes, beyond 08, they could be in trouble. We will see how they react.

Digital5 - you are obviously a del Sol parent. Each player/family needs to determine what is best for them by staying at Del Sol or moving clubs. Rosters are not full. Every ecnl team will take a couple players by either adding to their roster or bumping players. Uncommitted players will be most likely to move to an ecnl club. The chances of an AZ ecnl club taking an ENTIRE del Sol team to make them their top team is very slim. But who knows, maybe the ecnl clubs want to stick it to del Sol.

An opposite opinion automatically puts someone in a parent camp? I hope Del Sol parents make an educated decision.

You are right, parents will make the choice, it's how pay to play works.

Clubs are always looking to stick it to one another, it's the way of pay to play youth sports.

When you make a comment that the 02/03, 05 and 06’s del Sol teams are the best teams in the state and parents stay for the coaching (i.e. Mat Evans and Tommy McNaughton), you are obviously a del Sol parent.

I would take the odds that whatever parents shelled out cash to go attend the #GaTx showcase and get totally bamboozled by the club and ga, knowing what was at hand, when ecnl canceled their event days prior due to bad weather.....leaves a bad taste in their mouths...especially when they got one game out of it...and it was a 4-1 loss to a team that was a filler from the second division, when Tophat pulled out their team. Doesnt make for a good look for anyone still trying to sell the dream of being a top program, in an "elite" platform.

Well, not a Del Sol Parent and I don't know those two. Sounds like you know them personally.

So do we think the 2nd 1/2 of the GA Event will happen this weekend for the younger ages? The national weather service forecast is more very cold temperatures.

Texas is having rolling blackouts due to high energy demand from record cold. The GA event should be canceled or postponed.

Agreed. Put all your energy into the April FL tournament where attendance will be much higher and college coaches will be in attendance.

For this upcoming weekend, u15/u16 GA Texas has been canceled.

Heard some GA players/parents from the u17/u19 teams that played this past weekend in TX were stranded at the airport when multiple flights were canceled due to bad weather. This is after teams were only able to get in 1 game. So much for an "elite" platform.

yawn. Weather always a risk unless its SD in May.

ECNL is having a National Event in AZ the week BEFORE the dead period expires. Not a great look... Hey, the upside if it's livestreamed by the same company that did the AZ event in November, the scouts won't be able to see any numbers and you can just tell them that was your DD with the hat trick.

See everyone in FL the week the week AFTER the dead period expires and the D1 coaches will be in person.

LOL, ya'll crack me up sometimes on this forum.

The ECNL showcases are scheduled at the beginning of the season, which is done for multiple reasons...general planning for both teams and college coaches, allows teams to schedule their league games, etc. I can go look, but my guess is that GA events were also schedule towards the beginning of the season.

I don't think both GA nor ECNL could have anticipated that the dead period would be extended this far. I know college coaches didn't back in July or August.

Side note, rumor has it that the dead period is most likely going to be extended to May 31st. So much for the GA event in FL and NJ. But just in time for the GA SoCal event in June!

I feel bad for the girls who skipped the high school season to stay with their GA teams.

There were some, mostly from one club, but let's be honest: HS isn't good. Teams with large talent gaps, poor coaching, fitness and refereeing lead to overly physical games which add to a higher probability of injury. If your kid has the drive and desire to play in college, probably better to sit it out. Unfortunately, most adults are making these decisions for the kids. IMO - Let the kids play HS and figure out if it's for them or not. They can always skip future seasons if they don't like it.

Yes, of course they plan in advance, but if you come to a GA thread complaining about the GA and how it's not "elite" - expect some shade.

Bummer to hear about the dead period. Hope it's just rumor.

I think most parents convince their kid that high school is not worth it and the kid thinks they have skip high school to be considered elite. Most kids realize high school is not great soccer but like the brake and playing with friends for fun.

I don't disagree. But I would hope you agree that GA should have cancelled the event like the ECNL and National League did.

I think being the new guys on the block they took a gamble. They needed to show something this year...ie that they can run an event.

Had they been in biz a couple of years, they probably would have cancelled.
