Don't sell the Royals 05 team short, they are much improved and had plenty to prove. I didn't see but heard it was a chippy game. Great to see good AZ soccer being played.

Royals 05 team is much improved. They played a very physical game against SC Del Sol.

the game was very intense. The del sol goal was questionable, as the ball didn’t cross the line but was called a goal, bad angle from the referees.
The 05 Royals are much better this year. A new coach a make a world of difference.

The royals also only have 2 subs currently, so it was very even as far as that goes, and their best player has been hurt for a month now.

So Rising plays Royals without two of their best players including their goalie, end up playing most of the second half with only 10 players and end up with a tie. Royals and SCDSL play with short benches and end up with a tie. Who has the top 05 team in town.

Unfortunately we will never know. I guess we can wait until Rising plays Real So Cal and then compare how they do against them vs how Royals/SCDS did against them last year.

Royals and SCDS were each playing short. Soccer is a fickle sport.

They played Real So Cal Saturday and beat them 5-1. Played the Blues today and beat the 4-2, should of been 4-1 but they scored an own goal on a simple pass back to the goalie.

Rising wasn't missing their best players. They may have been shorthanded (Royals missed 2 starters) but had plenty of subs and some barely played. The keeper they borrowed was an 03 so you claiming that as a factor takes some nerve...

That's great, sounds like they are on a good track. Again, too bad we'll never see them play another AZ team this season, would be a lot of fun. I hope they have a great season. Good to see AZ teams winning on the pitch against CA power houses, great for AZ soccer.

For both leagues, the SOCAL teams we will face will eventually get back to real practices. Their quality of play will go up and it will provide a better litmus test. They haven't had contact since MAR, except for trips to AZ, NV, and UT.

In response to the rising game vs royals, the rising played with an 03 goalkeeper and the goal that Phx scored, if there would have been a full officiating crew the ball would have been called out so that shot and score would not have counted. Phx has a talented team but royals and del sol have some talent as well. So who’s the best? Who knows for sure.

It's unfortunate. The time for settling the question has passed. Both leagues are in season. For whatever reason, SCDS passed on the opportunity to play Rising when the chance was there. People can speculate the reasons.

Maybe there will be an opportunity for the clubs to match up during Surf Cup.

At this time for the 05 Girls, I don't think there is a best team. Any one of the teams could win depending on the day. What hurts all three teams is the lack of depth. Phoenix Rising ECNL has 14 players on the roster. SC Del Sol GA is down to 13 players. Utah Royals GA has 13 or 14 players? You cannot win a National title with only 13-14 players.

Well they don't have to worry about that even with full rosters ;)

ECNL has a National Title. Not sure about GA.

GA playoffs are scheduled on June 23-30 at Oceanside and the Finals July 9-11 at Seattle.

  18. Agree for the most part. I'm also one of those parents that could care less about State Cups, tournament wins and overall record. Teams don't get scouted, individual players do. Coaches are motivated by wins and losses, so I'd take a good, solid group of talented players to train with for my kid over the best used car salesman in the valley.
