I think for the most part, the major clubs in CA will stick to the rules and plan their return to play accordingly. The guidelines are pretty clear and seem to project a clear path towards eventual play, just not anytime soon. I think it would be a waste of money and time (and dangerous) to travel to AZ and play without meaningful practice. It would be a disservice to players. Why risk season/career ending injuries just to get bang for your buck. I know I wouldn't do it. But you never know, parents tend to loose rationality at times.

For immediate college bound players, it's not about the results, but about the quality of their own play in spite of results. Colleges could care less who wins/loses.

Well with CA not allowing real practice and no games or tournaments, ECNL doesn't have much of a choice at this point.

Nor do any of the other leagues for that matter.

    This is confirmed.

If HS soccer is pushed to March, the games in August and Sept will be rescheduled in Dec-Feb. If HS plays earlier than March, the games will not be rescheduled and instead cancelled, reducing the games for the season.

ECNL events are still all green-lighted.

Heard this morning that ECNL National event in Phoenix in November will NOT take place. Having girls, coaches, parents, etc traveling from all over the country and staying in hotels is just not in the cards. There was a glimmer of hope, but with major conferences canceling or postponing their seasons the door started to shut. Compounded by the fact that most college coaches will not be able to attend...because of school travel restrictions. I guess we hope that things get better and the events in the spring and summer of 2021 can happen.

Interesting. Surprising that they would make that decision so far out. Wonder what they will decide for ECNL South Carolina since it is only about 3 weeks later.

After looking at the site, the counter towards the ECNL Cali event for the youngers is no longer there.

Based on recent large tournament play on the East Coast, I would say ECNL South Carolina will likely happen. Also, looks like friendlies between GA and ECNL are happening in the "frontier conference" region. Maybe those egos are not getting in the way of some pretty good intra league friendly matches.

Yes, it would appear to be far out, 90 days. But from the planning stand point it is right around the corner when you think about thousands of players, coaches, players, referees,... . They had to make decisions around large contracts (e.g. fields, hotels, etc) that require large capital outlays from ECNL. Also, there is major uncertainty around what the status of the city and state will be in 90 days, will city owned fields (reach 11) even be open for play? They are not right now. What will be different in 90 days? Also, ECNL polled club directors from around the country and many could not commit to the event, and many have scaled back their fall season to intra-club only. The southeast and texas appear to be the exceptions right now.

You take CA out of the picture and its doable. ECNL events going on the the SE and other places, it is CA dragging their feet that is the problem for ECNL SW.

CA is certainly the boat anchor and doesn't look like leadership there wants to do anything about it. Great opportunity for good local soccer to occur, save some money on travel, and give the smaller clubs a good look.

Girls GA and ECNL are supposed to both start league games with CA teams in early October. ECNL teams are playing some local tournaments in September and possibly October. GA teams at this point are only doing scrimmages through September with no plans of local tournaments.

There is a lot of hope in CA in regards to play; they keep pushing back start dates on every aspect of youth sports.. They can barely conduct practice across the state due lack of fields, local/state politics etc. My guess is that their will not be league play (ECNL/GA) in CA during the fall. Maybe they will travel here. Hopefully I'm wrong or maybe they will salvage the year and concentrate on the tournaments historically held around Thanksgiving.

Desert Conference is on. No change in Schedule, but that is Utah, Nevada, Arizona so it really truly is Cali that is the problem.

@MessiFTW Any updates on this? With 60 days out, I have not heard either way. Cali parents are booking flights and gearing up for play.

A blues parent, who admitted he was half watching, said he thought the 03 scores for the Rising game was 9-0 and Arsenal was 3-0. He said a few starters didn't make the trip, which is what I expect right now.

04 arsenal lost 1-0 to blues. A defender lost the ball essentially in front of the gk in the first 10 minutes.
